Tibetan Language Class
Course Overview
This course offers an engaging introduction to the Tibetan language. Students will learn the alphabet, U-Chen script, the origins of the language, consonants, vowels, pronouns & interrogatives, basic conversational phrases, suffixes, head letters, subjoined letters, prefixes, root letters, tenses, numbers, days of the week, seasons, greetings, and much more.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, students will have enhanced their literacy skills and developed greater fluency in conversation.
Why Learn Tibetan?
Tibetan script is modeled after Devanagari. Buddhism flourished in Tibet during the 8th century, and since then, all Mahayana and Vajrayana texts have been translated into Tibetan. Tibetan remains a living language and the key to studying Mahayana and Vajrayana traditions.
Target Audience
This course is ideal for beginners. It is designed to be completed in 3 months.
Class Details
• Location: Pali and Sanskrit Cultural Exchange Center
• Schedule: Every Saturday, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Instructor Information
The course will be taught by Geshe Tenzin Celon, a highly experienced instructor with over 20 years of teaching Tibetan Buddhist Philosophy, Psychology, and Epistemology. Geshe Celon previously lectured at the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education in Bangalore for 14 years, taught at TCV Selakui for 2 years, and at Gyudmed Monastery for nearly 9 years.
